I hope you are able to get a vid up for us. I had several people reccomend the L-100 but I've never heard one... was told they sound like the isky 400 jrs but are a little easier on the drivetrain. Looking forward to hearing it!

  3. hey mate,

I have the vids but they are too big at the moment. tryig to get some software to shrink them.

  5. Tim,.Ive heard quite a few 400 jnr in mid cube Flatheads, and while they sound ok at idle ond nice when you sink the boot into it, for me they sound too mild.

The L100 has a nasty sound...that cammy, lumpy sound. I fabbed my exhaust from 2" mandrel bent tubing and I know it would rap more with 1 3/4" pipes. If I block off the heat risers, Im betting it will sound even crisper than what it does now.

Lets see if Psycho can sort out the vids that were taken on Sat. On Sunday after I had let it kool & I had retorqued the heads a few times, I let it idle and dialled in the carb a bit more and dropped the idle to around 650 rpm.....IMHO, thats where that cam sounds its best.

I think the vid probably won't accuratelyt portray how it really sounds.

  6. Very poor engineering on my part when I installed a remote oil filter to the fire wall. I did not want to run hard lines from the engine to a remote filter on the fire wall, so I finished off the last few inches with rubber hose. My rubber hose connections were hokey and after 6 months one of them popped off on the middle of an 8 mile bridge. I stupidly chose to try and make it over to the other side of the bridge before pulling over, and that cost me dearly.

This time around I've figured out how to do it right, plus a buddy has offered his aircraft engineering tools and knowledge to totally over engineer it this time. :)

    Congrats again.

Excuse me for my lack of knowledge, but I've never even heard of an L100 cam? Who's the grinder. By the way, I run a Potvin super 3/8's with a light alum. flywheel and LOVE IT. Idles nasty at about 950-1000 and grabs 3 grand at just a blip of the throttle...Very fun indeed!

  9. The L100 is a Littero cam and seems to be undergoing somewhat of a resurgance of popularity judging by the amount of users here and on fordbarn.

What displacement engine are you running? Hows that 3/8 compare to say a Potvin 425 Eliminator? What's your gearing like? Any issues with streetability with that cam?

Sorry for the questions, I'm on a cam hunt mysylf :D

  10. Baron...Im running a full flow filter sonversion as well, and have the Hidebrandt cover mounted on the firewall like.

The oil lines are high pressure designed for the job and the fittings I used make it almost impossible for the lines to come off. So I hope I dont have to go thru any shit like you did.

Mind you, theres only 50 psi or so going thru the lines so we should be OK !!

  11. Heres a pic of Loquire and me dialling in the dissy. You can see the remote oil filter set up with the oil lines...

Have you taken it for a spin yet? It's pissing down up here and I'm hanging to take my car out.

Typical. Hasn't rained for a year and as soon as I get my car done it buckets down!!!

(No I'm not worried about rain, but I don't fancy breaking down in the pissing rain!) :)

  14. Same here man...pissing down too. Prob just as well, have no seat in it so itd be pretty hard to drive lol....

    Danny-

The engine is 275ci. I run a 39 trans with zyphers, 3.78 with 750x16 for freeway flying...(lakes setup) Thats good for 75-80 at 2800 rpm with a top speed of 110. The only problem with this set-up is you gotta slide the clutch or fry the tires (nothing in between or it dies)...pure hot rod.

For a drag set-up, I put 650x16 on it...takes off without sliding the clutch but also frys the tires without even trying. Of course this is in a lite roadster too.

The 3/8 has less lift than the eliminator. 280 duration, 375 lift.

  17. Hey mate,

Here are the specs on the L100:

    Valve Lash:
    .016 intake & exhaust

    Lift:
    Intake .375 @ cam
    Exhaust .375 @ cam

    Duration:
    Intake 270 advertised 246 @ .050
    Exhaust 260 advertised 238 @ .050

    Valve Timing @ .050
Intake 15 BTDC closes 51 ABDC
Exhaust 55 BBDC closes 3 ATDC

    4 degrees advance @ 108 cam centerline

Do you have the specs on the 3/8? I've read as much as I can on this cam and I'm thinking maybe I'd like to run it in mine. Maybe too nasty a grind though for my 0.020 over 8BA (making it a 242 cubic inch monster)? I'm running a 39 style truck box and ~3.6:1 rear end in a 28 roadster. Would look at chopping the steel flywheel when I put the cam in.
