This may be a dumb question, but is it necessary to pull the motor to do a c4 conversion with a 1950 ford sedan w/ stock flathead? I'm probably gonna be using a flatomatic kit.
Not to through amonkey wrench inthe works, but have you thought about the AOD? Virtualy identical first through third gear ratios plus overdrive. You could run more axle ratio getting better acceleration and turn less rpom in high gear. It's all win-win. Just a thought. Speedway sells eveything you need to hook one up.
yeah I actually did think about an AOD, but i have a freshly rebuilt C4 here at the house so I was wanting to use that. thanks for the input though!
You'll like it. I ran flato's in 2 of my hiboys 1 was a supercharged flathead. Pay attention to the O.D./ I.D. size of the hole in the end of your crank, they vary sometimes.
