A while back I was looking for a 59A camshaft to have reground. I came across a gentleman that had a bunch of flathead parts for sale and ended up purchasing the four he had that looked to be 59A camshafts based on the lack of a distributor drive gear on the fore end of the camshaft. Three of the camshafts still had the cam gear bolted on. Once I got them home and unbolted the cam gears, I noticed the snouts had slight differences where the cam gear sits.

Why are they different? Is this a further late versus early thing or something different? Can the amazing HAMB knowledge base enlighten me? KIMG1325.JPG KIMG1326.JPG KIMG1327.JPG

  2. The extension on the nose of the cam is to allow use of an early distributer on a later cam. There is an add-on adapter to do this.
