I have a couple of 94s on my flathead. Gas pressure 2 lbs, rebuilt carbs. The front carb leaks and the front bowl is empty after it sit for a couple of hours. I have checked the br*** screws in front ,they seem to weep very very little. If it not the front br*** screws and the lead plugs on the side, what else could it be?
Examine the power valve. It could have a bad diaphragm or a leak at the gasket--be sure the gasket actually fits the sealing surfaces and that nothing there is damaged.
I have also found hairline cracks in the float bowl area, which leads to a slow leaking, but chekc the power valves first.
I'm going to pull the front in the morning. I notice on the rebuilt that on the base there is a round screw in thing. [Bout the size of a quarter] What is this for ? The old carb didn't have one on it.
Is the screw-in thing on the back at one side? If so, there was a "spark Valve" that went there, a part that looked a great deal like the power valve. It did something to the vac p***ages controlling the Holley type distributors on early Y blocks. I've never bothered to find out its exact function, since I don't own much of anything that modern. It can just be ignored as long as you don't have a vac leak there.
