I put a 39 trans behind.a cast bell housing that was with the motor when I got it used the same clutch and pressure plate but the clutch is too hard to press in can't figure out the problem

  2. What size clutch is it? What pedals are you using? An 11" clutch will be pretty stout unless you have long pedals. but if its a 9"or 10" you may have some mechanical problem. Does the throwout fork and bearing move freely on the bearing retainer snout?

B***man is on the right track. What pedal ***embly are you using? We found in a 32 we were building the pedal ratio was wrong. 49 type truck pedals and a 39 box and clutch with a car clutch arm on the shaft. But very stiff pedal on a 10" clutch. We shortened the linkage boss on the pedal to give a better ratio and got a great clutch.

I put a long pipe on the release bearing lever Connor move it had the trans off and everything looks correct release bearing travels freely it's like the pressure plate is too strong or frozen

What year is the motor and bell out of? I used a 48 flathead put the 39 trans behind it. I used the clutch out of the 39 and the pedal ***embly. I did find other pedals to be of different lenths. So I went with the one that matched the trans and clutch.
