I have 1950 engine that has truck water pumps and a 1948 crab style Mallory distributor. What crank pulley do I need to clear the distributor and has wide belts Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Can that even be done? Eyeball down the pulley sideways and see if there is clearance in there for that distributor. Even on the trucks I'm pretty sure one of the pumps feeds the front sheave of a crank pulley and the other pump gets the rear. One of them feeds the generator up top, and the other feeds the fan. I think the rearward crank pulley places that rear belt too close to the distributor, but I may be wrong. I'm pretty much a 48 and older flathead guy.
Post a picture of what you have - post 1948 flatheads should be a side mount distributor - unless it's been modified to run a front mount distributor.
The truck pumps I have used are driven with one belt. But I think you will find clearance issues with the crab and truck pumps.
I cut the slinger part off in a lathe. this engine is for a vintage modified roadster drag car. 1/2 " Scat stroker. did the same thing to my 27.
So a 49 truck pulley will fit if he trims off the rearward timing indicator surface? Then runs the fan off the front pulley? So the generator and both pumps are run off the rear pulley?
