Flathead Deck Height Help Needed....

    Decking blocks is a must on high performance engines,however I doubt a flatty would need this process but should be looked at any way.I have built hundreds of engines in my time and never seen a shop take off more than 2-4 thousands to true up any block. Niot saying there not out there but I just haven't seen it.The first process would be to line bore and this is a very necessary operation as is resizing the rods and replacing rod bolts. A 1/4 off your flatty and you wouldn't have enough stud threads to tighten the head with and most likely would crack the block at the thread holes. Just my opinion.
     
  3. The problem is that Ross only offers certain pistons with millimeter rings (stocking sizes) -- though on special order pistons you can request them. You need to know that you can find an appropriate ring size (given the bore you want to run) - BEFORE you order your pistons . . . because if you can't find the rings, you're SOL.
     
  4. Not just drag, but better materials and designs - moly top rings, total-seal, etc..
