Need help with a flathead distributor... My first flathead, and trying to get her started... Pulled the distributor, and can't seem to get the Rotor out... Tried to load a pic from my phone, but no luck... I'd best describe the distributor as the football style distributor, on a '41 merc. With the 239... Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated...

You've got to pull the distr shaft and contact plate ***y out the back first. Go thre the side openings to remove the large round "snap" ring that locks the ***y in place. A pointed pick tool works for this. The timing adjust screw and the vacuum brake have to be removed before pushing the shaft and plate out the backside. It may take a little persuasion to get it moving.
