    Hello everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for a Flathead engine building shop near (or as near as can be) the Chicagoland area.

I have some H&H mains that need to be align honed to the block, and a rotating assembly that needs to be balanced and installed.

A Flathead specific shop would be preferred.

    Thanks for reading.

Highly recommend Matt Werksman at Fox Valley Hot Rods just outside of Chicago. He is definitely a flathead specific engine builder and a real good one at that. Matt used to be in Barrington Illinois just outside of Chicago but I think he has moved to another location. Phone number that I have is 847-382-3089, but that may have changed too, as I am reading from an old business card. FOXVALLEYHOTRODS.COM is his website and you can get his information there. Matt built a 59A flathead engine for me and it runs perfectly.

Called Fox Valley, but the number doesn’t go thru, so I sent an email. Awaiting a response for now.

    Any other suggestions from anyone?

Yes.....hope you can hook up with Matt Werksman. I have not had him do any work for me, but a few years ago, he came up to Wisconsin and bought some old hot rod and sprint car stuff I had. He was very good to work with and he took time to hang out and talk about what he did for a living. Also....try to find some info on his father who left his mark on the hot rod building world also. Good luck and have fun
