 I took apart my fan****embly on my 8BA because I could see fluid and dirt built up on it . I'm pretty dumb when it comes to flatheads. Any way what type of fluid do you put in the fan hub?

I think none unless it has an oil cup. The fans on '49-'53 passenger cars (and I****ume all the others) are sealed self-lubricating bearings. I don't know about trucks, but it would surprise me to find they were any different. I also don't know about earlier fans that might have snuck its way onto a later motor.

Assuming you have the oil type hub, the latest I have heard is 80 weight rear end lube. Just enough to be level to the fill hole when it is horizontal.:) :D

Mine has just regular motor oil in it.......not sure if thats 100% correct but have not had one problem for several years since I had it apart to change the fan.

  5. I use an 8RT big turck fan, it takes 30 SAE motor oil.
