Anyone ever put a position sensor on the end of the camshaft on 59AB flathead (or similar)? Needs to fit into slot on end of camshaft and bolt to front cover. Any suggestions on what part to use? I'm trying to computerize the thing. Yes I know I'm crazy.
    Thanks
    Abe

  2. The distributor on a 59ab bolts to the front cover and is driven directly by the cam so I don't think you'll get the sensor to mount there.

We are trying to replace the distributor with an engine position sensor. We'll have a crank trigger too.

Can't You use that distributor? Throw away everything from inside, and use it's shaft to trigger the sensor.

This guy is a Hamber and appears to be a very talented machinist and Flathead fan If you have a few minutes to check out his site I think you will be impressed enough to try to contact him for some information on this subject. I will post a few pictures from his his sight to wet your appetite.
