Anybody ever use old Ford parts to make furniture? I dug an old 21 studder out of the mud a while back and now it's time to salvage what I can. She's pretty bad because the poor thing was buried with no oil pan. Yuck! Well I have this policy of not throwing anymore Ford stuff out so I gotta do something. I was thinking of using the block as a base for a glass top magazine table for my office. Whatta'ya think? Am I nuts? All the salvageable outside pieces will get put in stock. I'm digging this idea even though my wife went... WHAT!!!! Post some pics if you've done something like this.
Everybody and their brother has made an engine block glass top coffee table, magazine table, etc. including foreign engine guys and gadzooks, even inline sixes. A great idea to use a gunchy engine but the wife would move you out to the garage with your Lazy-Boy too. A friend made a neat table lamp with a Model A Crankshaft, all polished up and sitting on a big ball bearing****embly. He followed it up with one made from a Model T crankshaft. The T one had the wire run through the crank throws.
Man Northern Tool has got some cool stuff. If I manage to do this I'm gonna leave her naked to expose the uniquness of the valve in block V8. I'm gonna show Momma this picture so she does'nt think I'm cracked.
The flathead would look really good undressed, but I think it would look fantastic dressed in some "ole speed equipment" and some neat headers. I have seen a Ferrari motor that was made into a glass top table and it looked very impressive....................
Yes whilst I was in Vegas last year I stumbled [the literal drunken sense ;-) ] into a "Ferrari Store" with engines and components uses as displays and decorations. Those parts were pretty.
