Fellas, need a little help. Trying to button up the last few things on my 8BA in my '50 Ford so I can fire it up.

The car is completely stock but the engine was pulled, rebuilt and hopped up a little. When my dad and I pulled the engine 15(?) years ago we had the foresight to label the wires, but not the foresight to use ink that wouldn't evaporate.

I have 5 wires I need to identify, three go to the generator and two to the coil. I can tell by the length which are which, but don't know what the color code is.

    Here's what I've got:

    GENERATOR WIRING
    Orange/black (I think)
    Black/orange (I think)
    Black (I think)

On the generator of course, I have lugs FIELD and GROUND plus the rear lug on the case. Which goes to which?

The coil is a standard Ford 6V with +/- but the wires are RED and ORANGE.

I mentioned that the car is bone stock. It's still 6V positive ground. Thanks for your input!

I'm in the process of figuring this out.

Max VanPelt is a life saver again! Once I figure out the colors I'll post it for future reference for others.

Not sure what's happened with my wiring harness, as I thought it was original. In fact, I'd bet money on it but my colors do NOT match the Green Bible.

Just for future reference, the Green Bible shows the coil wire having BLACK and BLACK with GREEN TRACER, but doesn't indicate which is which.

It also indicates the generator has a YELLOW with BLACK TRACER to the rear of the gen, and BLACK with WHITE TRACER as well as BLACK with RED TRACER to the field/gnd terminals, but doesn't indicate which is which.

Going to try to ED-U-MA-CATE myself until someone chimes in.

Fords are 6V POSITIVE ground until 1955.
