i rebuilt my flathead last year and it ran great, but this year i took it out for the first time and it ran good for about 4 blocks and them i went to take off from a stop sign and it died. So i got it started and rove it home got some more gas in it and took it out and it did the same thing this time i had to tow it back home. It will start up fine and idle good but when you drive it for a bit it does the same thing. I checked the float in the carb it is good new fuel pump but a dont want to drive it till i get it fixed. any help? It is a 8ba in a 1950 ford sedan.

It may not be venting enough air into the fuel tank. Has anything changed there? Gas cap? Too little air can cause dying at usable rpm but fine running at idle. (Ask me how I know :)).

You might want to check the fuel filter, I was having the same problem and that $2 dollar part fixed it!
