Hi Gary....the engine with one carb and the other port blocked seems to have some difficult to idle....i'm thinking to add some octane booster on the fuel cause i check the plugs and they said that engine is running lean....Tomorrow (italy time)......i restart the tune up with each carb and other port blocked....hope to solve the issue soon.....that potvin camshaft has a great sound and engine at higher rpm pulls really hard......

Is this a 49-54 engine with stock distributor?the stock dist. advance will not work with duel carbs.

Just another thought, maybe your manifold will not allow you to run just one carb? have a great day Gary

i don't remember well, but somewhere i read that some flathead dual carb intakes are made in the way that one carb is for the front 4 cylinders and rear carb for the others....

Do not add octane. Not needed. With good carbs and the right ignition regular gas with low octane runs just fine.
It could very well be an intake that feeds 4 front and 4 rear cylinders.
Youre jumping around so much I have trouble keeping track.
Have you actually rebuilt the carbs? have you actually installed new accelerator pumps?
If the carbs were rebuilt why would you think the nozzles are clogged?

Hi Pete i buy the carbs years ago like rebuild on ebay,i check the nozzle on the front carb when i accelerate by hand and i see that from one hole don't came fuel so i remove the nozzle and clear with carb cleaner and air and now is ok but issue is not solved,,when i start to move the car the engine has empty of air and than crackles,,this is what engine do at low rpm....when rev up seems to be really good...

Sounds like it was a poor carb rebuild. That's what I thought.
Do you have an original intake? You could install each carb on it and see if you can isolate the problem. I bet you end up rebuilding those carbs again.
