Something I have seen several times on six volt Ford V8 with adaptor and separate coil.
Symptons; Starts easily when cold, reluctant to start when hot, develops an intermittent misfire after some time at speed. Everything seems to check out fine.
An old auto electrician friend said to check the coil " bet its a 12 v ballast coil "
Replacing with a proper 6 volt coil cured it.
6 and 12 volt coils have different primary to secondary winding ratio. Ballast type is different again.
As demand for six volt coils has dropped, many parts suppliers have opted to substitute a 12v ballast coil to use on 6v systems. It works most of the time. Don't blame the parts man - he is supplying what the book says.
But when the above symptom appears, find a 'proper' six volt coil even a good used one, with '6 volt' stamped on it and see if it fixes the problem. It has always worked for me.
