Hot Rods flathead info

    Im new to the flathead world and was wondering if anyone could help me id this engine I have.It says59ab on the valve covers and 59 in the lifter valley.What year,cubic inch and hp did this bad mofo originaly have?Thanks Robbie:eek:

    It could be a high nickle 302... VERY rare.

    Um, dude, that would be a 59A flathead. I think you're in for a beating here. Brace yourself. LOL

    Well, they DO cover the valves don't they? Although Ford liked to call that thing we refer to as an intake manifold a valve cover.

    The guy is a FNG,he said he didn't know much about flatheads.
    59's were made from 46-48, 239 ci. 95-100 hp.
    Oh! flatheads don't have valve covers. they are call them heads.

    He's an FNG with two posts. Basically the same question twice. This, along with a lousy intro, leads me to predict a short and unpleasant stay here. We'll miss him.

    Flatheads have REAL "valve covers......." Says the inscription on my firewall.......

    well, if ya think about it...SBC's have covers over the rocker arms....hmmmm, makes ya think don't it?

    Then post the pictures of those flathead valve covers.
