I have a lead on a manifold described as a 2 - 2 flathead intake with brass equalizing tubes between the carb bases.

I know I have seen a manifold like this before, but can't find one in the books I have here.

Does anybody know who made these? Were there more than one like that? Or was it something that was just added into the manifold?

What was the idea behind the tubes? Will they work on the street?

    Any info would be appreciated.

That is probably a Frieman. They were made like that, and usually have a brass name tag riveted to the front. The tubes equalized the charge, but probably didn't do it very well. Fairly rare. With the tag still on it is even rarer.

Thanks for the info. I will follow up on it...for the rareness factor alone.

Does anybody have a picture of one? What era, are they pre-war?

    Thanks,

    Neal

  4. I'm not 100% shure, but I think it's Freiman not Frieman.
Has that little oval tag just behind the generator mount.

  5. There is a pic in Frank Oddos Flathead Builders Handbook.
Page 109. I don't have a scanner handy right now, maybe somebody else can put the pic on here.
Btw Oddo calls it Frieman two, but I take a bet it's Freiman.

Thanks, I do have that book but forgot to check there. You can read the tag in one picture, and it clearly says Freiman.

I will let you guys know if this pans out. This might even be neater than my dad's Slingshot [IMG]

That thing would surely turn my head. By the way Neal, a correction on my tire sizes, 6.00 and 7.50. Sorry if there was any confusion. dug

Hey Klaz...is that your Freiman intake? How much?

I see alot more Slingshots on cars that I do these...and did you see how much that guy just paid for a Slingshot on Ebay? [IMG] [IMG]

Dug - I was wondering about the 6.50's on the front, that seemed big. You car does look very "right", just like a pic out of an old magazine.

I was going to run 6.00's on the front until I came up with some 3-1/2" wheels. I just ordered 5.00/5.25's and 7.50's. I should have them this week, hopefully I get the look I am after.

Yeah. Who the hell is the bullet1 guy buying up everything? He pays un-godly amounts of cash for stuff, and bids early. If I had an auction that I saw bullet1 bid on, I would start jacking up the price. Just because you know he put his max bid at something like $5000 on anything he bids on.....

Do you know how rare those V8-60 wheels are? You did good. I had one and looked for another forever until VAPHEAD found me the windshield frame for my coupe. He had one as well so I gave him the one I had in appreciation for finding the frame, already chopped with green glass. I look forward to seeing your truck with the new skins. dug
