Technical flathead intake manifolds

    can a ford 49 thru 53 intake manifold be used on a 48 merc engine?
    thanks for any help.

    Yes. Use the '48 fuel pump mount and pushrod, plug hole for road draft or use it to build a PCV setup.

    Yes; All the Ford intake ports are the same.

    However, if you want to use the 48 and earlier (58A) intake on a 49 / 53 (8BA) block, you have to remove (or shorten) the crankcase vent tube, which is located at the right (pass side) front corner of the lifter gallery. The early intakes will not clear the top of the vent tube.
