All, I’m sure I’m getting water number 1 cylinder of my 59ab, pushes water out when shut down, #1 plug was clean, pulled head, gasket doesn’t have signs of leaking, no visible cracks. I do see the irregular swirls in the cylinder wall on this cly only. Anyone ever seen this? It’s has .060 pistons in it , I bought it from a guy, no history on it, put it in my bare frame and it fired right up, runs pretty good. Thanks for any help in advance. Will try to attach pictures.

Weird. Looks like rust pits right next to the swirl groove. Can you catch a fingernail on it?

I’m not understanding what you mean about your water. Pushes out of where?

I can’t get a finger naill , pick, or anything to catch on them. When I run it it will push a little water out of the overflow on radiator, I have a 4lb cap on it. When I get it hot and shut it off it pushes out a lot of water.
    Thanks

Those marks in the cylinder look like different water levels as the piston stopped in different locations when the engine sits for a while with water in it.

  5. Odd, but if you're drafting water into #1 I would expect to see a much cleaner head chamber for that cyl.

If no signs of a defective head gasket, wouldn’t it have to be a crack in the bore?

  7. If it's had valve seats replaced and the cutter got into the water jacket it can leak there.
