Flathead manifolds

    I have been looking at some old manifolds, 2X2, 2X2 super, 3X2 Edelbrock etc. How can you tell which ones would be for a 49-53 Flatty? Or can they be used on any of the 24-stud engines? Sorry for asking such a dumb question!:D

    For 49-53 (54 in Canada), the obvious tell-tale is the two holes near the front left side of the intake for the road draft tube & oil fill tube. Earlier intakes do not have this.Either can be made to work on the other engine with minor work...

    I've also heard of minor differences in the generator mount, but could be wrong about that.:rolleyes:

    Yes, most all the aftermarket intakes can be made to fit an 8ba engine.
    The earlier intakes 32-48 have extra mounting holes that won't be used or needed on the later flatheads 49-53. The only thing to consider is the fan and generator clearances needed on your application and there are also ways around this.
