The S10 T5 bolt pattern is different than the Mustang T5. All of the adapters I could find are for the S10 bolt pattern.

Are there any adapters for the Mustang transmission to a 32-48 flathead?

I believe Vern Tardel sells an adapter. There's also one from Australia I think - Macs or something like that??

I picked one up from Squeek Bell in Bakersfield......he stocks both the GM & Ford type made by Macs, nice heavy casting & uses the stock Ford release arm & shaft.

What year Mustang? The '94-95 Mustangs used a .75" longer input shaft. These are fully interchangeable with earlier input shafts as long as it has same gear ratios (approx '89-up)

The one I plan to use is an 87-93 (shorter input shaft)

Do the S10 tail housings simply interchange, or is there some modification needed?

You need both the S10 tailhousing AND the S10 top cover to complete this conversion. Also, there's a little plastic funnel at the end of the countershaft behind 5th gear that sits into a machined recess in the tailhousing. They are different between WC & NWC and need to match the tailhousing, so if you can get the one from the S10, get it.

Your speedometer hole will no longer line up with your speedometer gear - see the inliners.org site in the other post to see how one ingenious rodder got around that.

Somewhere, I have a list of speedo gears for the Ford application & what's needed to get your speedo close...
