There wasn't a road draft tube on my car when I got it. So I wanted to add a PCV instead. But looking at the carb and manifold there's only one vacuum port and it's being used by my distributor. Will I have any problems if I tee this port off for both distributor and PCV? Or is it too small for the needs of a PCV. It looks tiny. *I don't have any wipers and couldn't find the wiper vacuum port that every other post keeps referring to.
I recently purchased this kit on-line for my flathead. The aluminum piece fits the road draft hole on your intake. You can see the plastic tee that comes with the hose, it is designed to tee that vacuum source you are referring to. I needed more vacuum for my application so I drilled and tapped a new larger fitting. More to your question, something is better than nothing right? Many have found success with this installation on their flatheads.
Not purchase info but this is a thread over on the Barn: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=237933 Check out my posts 4, 5, & 8 about how I made my own complete with photos and part numbers.
I got mine off epay for a fiddy https://www.ebay.com/itm/1949-53-FORD-CAR-FLATHEAD-PCV-VALVE-CONVERSION-KIT-/121545347642 Kinda spendy for what it is. Anyone with a lathe and an ounce of talent could turn one out pretty easy.
That's just it. I want to know if using that port for the dizzy and PCV will choke it up and not be enough air flow. If that's gonna happen to me, then I might as well look for another option or solution.
I got mine on ebay for $50. I also have a vacuum plate to place under my carb on my 8BA for my c4. You'll be fine.
My flathead is an 8BA with the draft tube so can't really help on the earlier intake, the distributor gets it's vacuum from a port on the carb. I measures the hole for the draft tube and went to O'Reillys and found a grommet the right size and a 90 degree PCV and plumbed it to the vacuum wiper port for about $10 , the grommet is for a Ford but can't remember the application.
Know this is an older thread but in case anyone following it. We just used this on my buddies 8BA- Mr Gasket #6377., and the 231 V6 PCV valve.
