   I am rebuilding a 53 Mercury flathead with a truck oil pan and needed a oil pump pick up tube. I ordered one from Speedway and it appears it's about 2.75" from bottom of pan. What modifications need to be made to lengthen tube or does someone make a longer one?

   How deep is the sump? Don't think I've ever seen a pan just like that. Also, why the hi-volume oil pump?
