I saw a reverse polarity distributor for the 49-53 flathead. Would that allow you to run a GM generator with the neg (-) being ground. A little more familar with the GM set-up for wiring, but, not with Ford. As they run pos (+) ground. If this isn't the case and is there a benifit to either one, which is better for wiring???? Thanks

I think you probably saw a Mallory Rev Pol, a strange piece that works a special coil with two sets of windings.
Your distributor does not care which pole is grounded or even what the voltage is. Ask it. The coil must have its wires hooked up so the wire to the points is the one matching the grounded pole on the battery and it must be fed the right voltage, but that's it. Also, the generator can be repolarized with virtually no effort, so you can set things up just about any way you care to.

Thanks for the info...so is there a benefit to the reverse pol distributor? And yes, it was a Mallory dual point...Thanks.
