    Hey guys!

I have an old flathead that has not run in 20+ years. I'm looking to get it rebuilt, does anyone know of any reputable places near Boston? I live about 45 minutes west of Boston. Any place suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just be sure to have it cleaned and magnafluxed for cracks before having anything done. The flathead is famous for cracks.

Yes you must get that block Magged before you spend any more $$$$$ !
If you look very closely between the cylinders and the head bolts those are the best places to find cracks . remember this , just because it has some cracks doesn't mean the block is bad . There is also a lot of good engines out there forsale all the time ! Also remember not ever good engine builder can rebuild a flathead either ! I am a good engine builder of cl***ic , hotrod and race engine BUT I can't rebuild a flathead ! Make sure you find a really good flathead engine builder . Any machine shop can mag your block for you . You might try a post on the main board looking for a good flathead builder .
Good Luck with your flatty !

Take a look at fordbarn.com in the "early" section. There are a couple of folks over there in the New England area. May get some good info there.

If it p***es the "Mag" test flatheads are not hard to build and there is plenty of books available on building them, but parts for them are grossly expensive these days for the cost of a 200 HP flathead you could have a 450 HP 302 Windsor.Check out www.speedwaymotors.com and check out the flathead parts they probably have more available than anyone.

I can build you any SBF or BBF you want in the HP . I can build you a daily driver to race engine and anything in between . I actually have a 347 with a C4 that's in a 84 Mustang with a 4.10 posi with all less that 500 miles on it ! Eagle forged bottom end with around 450+ hp ! Does easy 12 sec on the street and with good slicks it does 10 in a 1/4 ! I am selling it for my neighbor that's in the military . They moved to the base & I am trying to sell the car for him or he will get it in October on leave . I wish I had the $$$ to buy it . It's a steal for the price ! Needs a paint job . I have driven the car myself and it's very fast ! I could put that engine right in that Ford and make it a nice sleeper !
I can't build the engine alone for what he wants for the car !
A nice 302 with a mild cam would be nice with an overdrive trans . I can build them cheap and you will have the torque to pull the car around no problem ! Will be better and cheaper than building a flathead ! I had a flathead and what the parts alone would have cost me I can build 500 hp engines ! I sold mine and build a nice 302 for my Ford .
    Just a thought !
