I'm in the planning process for the motor build for my AV8. The car will use a fenderless '29 unchopped Tudor body, T-5 trans with an 8 inch differential. 3 5/16 bore with 4 1/4 stroke. My research shows H&H offering a 4-71 GMC and a S.Co.T unit. I spoke with Joe Abbin and he tells me that his Roadrunner Weiand kits are very much in demand , so much so that he is 50 orders behind. The other alternative that I have found is TR designs Magnuson kit. I'm hoping that some of you folks with first hand experience will share some wisdom .

Go radical and put a front drive blower on it. Then change the cam and do a reverse flow flathead. :D

Joe's kits are probably hard to beat for value/money if you don't have to have absolutely period correct. I'm big fan of his stuff and have watched several of his dyno runs when I used to live out there.

Your other alternatives are Magnasun - talk to Joe - they did an article on them in HRM a few years ago - it wasn't that impressive.

Another alternative is a SCoT from H&H or a 3-71/4-71 using an H&H intake and drive.

Or you can fabricate your own system by piecing together some OEM stuff.

+1 on Joe's kit. Yea, the "downside" is the Holley 4bbl and serpentine belt aren't exactly traditional, but it sure is nice to have a kit thats complete, installs like it belongs, and works as advertised no fuss no muss.
Traditional or not, it looks good to me.

Although not cheap, Uncommon Engineering does really good work. They do have flathead blower kits too. The motor in my avatar was built by Steve.
