    Guys -

In the process of finishing the Track Roadster, it has become very apparent it needed separate temp gauges for each cylinder head. To keep it period correct, I had a set made up to my specs - and here they are:

These are 2", stainless case, Bourdon tube gauges with bronze capillaries, SS thermal bulbs, 3/8" NPT unions, 42" capillaries, gl*** bezels, 270 degree sweep, 50-250 deg F range. Another pic:

these are instrument quality gauges, with 3% accuracy made right here in the Detroit area. I had them fabbed up with faces to match my gauges - and they're going back for red needles here in a day or two. Here's a closeup of a face:

while not old, they are exactly what I want, as the needle will indicate straight up at operating temps - and the gauge ain't cheesy plastic.

I can get sets of these made up for $100 a pair, black face, white markings.

    Are any of you interested?

I'd buy a pair if they were the offwhite with black markings like yours.

I'll check on that - shouldn't be a problem, though. To be fair to the gauge manufacturer, we'll need a run of about a dozen sets to justify some of the special-ness of the gauge.

FWIW, Speedway's selling a similar gauge with a 72" capillary for $57a pop - and these are much nicer, IMHO. With less than 36" from the gauge panel to the plugs on the heads - having to roll up 3" of cap tube under the dash is kinda messy.

Yes, oil pressure in a similar config is possible; I'd have to check on price, but it would most likely be less. All they currently have available is pressure and temperuature; there would have to be a hella demand to make up ammeters and other gauges.

Those are really nice. Is it possible to get a pair with an instrument panel to mount under the dash?

    UPDATE:

I just checked; the gauges can be made available in 2-1/2" face. I'm using 2" 'cuz I don't have a lot of dash to stick them in.

Pressure gauges - yes. 0-60#; same specs other than no cap tube.

    Guys -

Looks like I've got enough interest for an order; will speak with the manufacturer today.

re: gauge mounts - no, all I'd do is look for mounting panels at either Summit or Jeg's, mark them up, and sell them to you. If you still want a panel, let me know.

re: cap tubes...You may want to measure up the distance between the port on the heads and the mounting position, then add about 6". I was originally going to ask for 36" cap tubes, but went with a wee bit longer just so's the tube can be run in the valley between the head and the top of the block, then run up the sidewall to penetrate where the electrical runs thru the firewall on an 'A'.

I'll try and have all the specs, pricing and ordering set up by the end of the week.

Thank you for setting all of this up. Those are very cool, and I for one, love one off stuff or near one off stuff.

Bring it on, and keep us posted.

I need a set also for our HA/GR project but am concerned about the 36" length. Wouldn't 42" or 48" be better. Not to be picky but I'd also prefer the 2-1/2" dial size. Pm me with the above pricing please.

I'd be interested in 1 temp and 1 oil press. in 2 1/2" for the digger.

    Guys -

spoke with the manufacturer and to get a reasonable price, we're going to have to standardize on one face size (2-1/2") one face color (like beige with black letters) and two gauge types (50-250 temp, 0-60 pressure).

I'm going to have 2-1/2" samples made up next week; will post specifications shortly. Pricing and availability info by the end of the week.

Chuck, this is exactly what I like about you. Couldn't find just 'that' gauge for your car. Why worry, just go find someone to make it for you and get a deal enough to share.

Being in the "D" has its advantages.

I believe the stock oil pressure sender had 1/4" NPT threads and not 1/8" NPT.

Btw edit you post for the bold oil pressure sender ***le.

Any chance we could mix the colors? I'm primarily interested in giving the look of the old SW gauges which we all know were black w/white lettering. A more traditional combination IMO. If that were possible I'd be in for 2 water temp and 1 oil pressure.

    Frank

  29. I've got to go along with fab32. I would also be interested in 2 water and 1 oil pressure but only if the faces are black with white lettering, like the ol SW gauges.
    Let us know.

this is a mech pressure gauge - meaning that you run a hard line into the interior compartment off the back of the block. You'll actually need an adaptor to go from NPT to a compression fitting - which is the standard on most mechanical temp gauges.
