Getting ready to ***emble my flathead and noticed the numbers on the timing gear. Is this telling me the gear is going to advance my cam timing 6 degrees?

No....it’s telling you that this particular gear is .006” oversized in diameter. These were made to help compensate for wear in the steel timing gear on the crankshaft. In general, it’s better to replace both gears with new standard timing gears.
