Who still makes an adapter to bolt up a toploader transmission (like from a Mustang) to a 59AB style block? Or does anyone have one that they want to sell?
I don't think there is such a thing, but I've been wrong before. Try "Wilcap" and "Bendtsens", but expect to pay a LOT of money. It might be cheaper and easier to sell the 59A block and get an 8BA. You could probably make out moneywise doing that. The earlier "toploaders" will bolt up to the stock 8BA bellhousing.
Model Engineering. Call Gene, 330-644-3450. Hard to get ahold of but worth the wait. His web site ****s or at least it did last time I checked. There was a rumor that he closed up shop but I called him and he said he is still in business. Excellent quality and a really nice guy as well. I had one that I was going to use to install a toploader from a '66 Mustang in my '39 p/u but stayed with the closed drive line 3 speed.
Have a look at www.macsspeed.com Looks like he has just the thing . An email should get a shipping price. Garpo
Modern Driveline in Idaho has an extensive catalog of adapters including what you are asking for.... www.moderndriveline.com I have seen their stuff firsthand and it is NICE! I have no connection with them, haven';t even bought from them just yet, but will have no hesitation when the time comes.
