There is 17 bolts head so it is a V8 60
They were used on Ford (Simca) Vedette on the late 50's

    Yes absolutly 50s vedette
maby they used the engine in some
    frech truck but transmission is
also Vedette probably the 84 hp
    version can be 66 hp

Looked on the pics some more
its the older version with integrated
    bellhousing came in the vedette
that look like a small 49-50 mercury
    66 hp i think

looking at the transmission and the pull rods I' guess it's not taken from an open drive car
so I'd say pre-war Matford (F472) rather than post-war Vedette
the F472 was continued under the SAF Ford brand post 1945 for some time and there was a commercial off this chassis

Vedette had four bolt (not three bolt) Solex carbs as far as I know

First ones came out as optional in 1937 Ford cars, the little V860, or the larger std. V8 85 (horsepower).-------Don

Front mount dist., exhaust manifolds, look like my Vedette engine. Can't see bottom of the block. For sure its not American.
Went back and looked, mine has freeze plug in each head. Had a 4 speed columm shift open drive. It was in a 59 Vedeette.
