Pretty cool mag. Are you sure it is just a Wico? I have a mag for a flatty that uses a Wico mag on top of the Pounden adaptor. It was sold just as a Pounden. Maybe conversely yours is a Wico and another brand too.

I agree, the body is Wico, but somebody else made the angle drive. Any names or numbers?

If wanna sell or trade it, let me know.

  4. As someone else posted, I'am pretty sure that mag setup was built by George Pounden, his shop was in Sebastopol Calif, about 12 miles from me. He made seven different mags setups for flatheads, along with chevys, Harley Davidson, Chrysler. He use to hang out at the Cotati Drag strip in the 50's, and have people try out one of his mags. If that in fact turns out to be a Pounden mag, I may be able to put you in contact with his Son, George P***ed away 6 or so years ago...Ed

The only names and numbers on it are on the side of the mag. They are the ones I have pictured. The body itself has no numbers. I have a friend that had a Pounden for a flathead and his base was different but simular. If I did decide to sell it would be very high and my friend has first dibs on it.

I had a Pounden mag for an Olds that was made from the body of a Wico 1343 (I think that's the right number). The body was normally used on 4 cylinder tractors, but George added a new base/drive and an adapter for an 8 cylinder cap. Had "Pounden" cast in the cap adapter. If he made yours I would think he'd have cast his name in the parts somewhere.

I would think your angle drive (which is being reproed now) could be used with most any distributor or mag if you whittle the drive down correctly.

I don't see any casting numbers or names on the mount (base). I got this from a old man that had it for many years. He raced midget cars. I'm sure it's not a repo. bace.

Name is Norman Frick. He's in Grand Junction CO. Try Zipper Motors 970/243-6558 or Plating Specialties 970/242-8706 for Norm's number. Steve at Bert's Model A in Denver might have it. 800/321-1931
