flathead with straight pipes

Been running my flathead with headers and smithys. Way too quiet for me, so i got home from work and cut out the smithys and just put in straight pipes. Friggin awesome. A little obnoxiouse when pulling out but when running down the road it sounds awesome. I will see what johnny law thinks. If it becomes a problem i will put a set of porters on!

Look at Avatar..... Straightpipes.........I ran two straight pieces of conduit from the headers to under the rear axle.....

At least it ain't a fart-can

 

Thats all I've ever had on my coupe. They (PO-PO) dont dont seem to mind.

 

We don't need no stinkin' mufflers...RUMPETY RUMP.

Drove this thing with no mufflers almost every day for a year or so...no problems. Your results may vary.

 

i have driven mine without mufflers for five years now,
And i don't need a stereo

 

As in: the object in your mirror may be closer than it appears.

 

Ditto, 5years and no ticket or warning. Even trying to make noise when going by the one cop in town.

Your Gonna wake up the " RESPECT" HAMB Do-Gooders here, The Last Straight Pipe thread was about 8 pages of why you should RESPECT your neighbors & run Mufflers.

That said I have run a Pontiac powered f-100, DeSoto Hemi & a 6cyl Dodge for about 20 years in a small town ... few tickets

My Daughter runs a Y-Block in her '55 Straight !

ha, funny stuff. Really put a smile on my face on the first run. Respect. What is that anymore.

 

I'm also running a straight pipe with no muffler on the '57 Chevy 235 that's in my T-bucket. It produces a nice throaty rumble even without it being a spilt exhaust. No problems so far with the law. Maybe they're giving me a p*** when they see the Ohio historic license plate.

 

I have been running straightpipes on my Y-block for about 10 years. Y-blocks make the sweetest music!

 

Flatheads like some back pressure, I put super traps on mine, still noisy, you can adjust them, lots more low end power now!!

 

There are a few engines that have a distinct sound. I love the sound of a Chebbie 6 with a split manifold and straight pipes.

 

I'm running lake pipes with a very small baffle (to keep the guys with the lights on their cars happy if I get pulled over), and love it, now with almost 18,000 miles and going strong!

 

My 8BA just has headers and straight pipes all the way out the back, it sounds perfect. Not obnoxiously loud, but a good rumble at idle. You'll be fine.
