Here's a question for the Flathead guys.Rebuilt a 8BA 1951 Flathead.After about 200 miles on it,the passenger side of the straight pipes are turning a black,pinkish,purple color,and the drivers side of the pipes are not.Could this be a carb problem,or a water cooling problem?Thanks,Dave
Yes. Lean or hot, one creates the other. Check both. If you are lean on that side, fixing it should fix the hot.
Or retarded spark, aggravated more on one bank by another condition. Stock distributor very often has advance problems, as do certain aftermarket ones.
