So I got restless this weekend and decided to stroll out to one of my favorite salvage yards. Anyways, I was digging through a 53 Mercury Montary which is almost a complete car.

Now I have researched this loosely and am still a little short on information on the motor.

First off it had 2AG on the heads. Sound right?? (wish I had the camera with). From my quick ***essment of the head bolts I counted 23?? Maybe not. Was this the 255 cubic inch motor? Is this motor worth further investigation? I know this car has sat for many years at this yard. At one point when I went to the yard and looked at this Merc I found an entire deer skeleton under the hood! Intact!

Some of the other things I found were a couple of Nailheads from 60's Buicks, An almost complete 64 Caddy, Two beautiful sets of Caddy Dagmars, An interesting 1936ish International Truck with the complete grill that is in excellent shape. (kind of an interesting grill),

Plus some cool Mopar **** that I was looking for that I may have to go back for. Ya I know it is a pointless story but I just had to ask about the flatty.

Oh one more thing, I was digging through a 58 Ford er something and on the front seat of this thing is what looks to be a Lasalle transmission. Other than being a really long sum***** is there other characteristics that identifly them?

    Thanks

What you have there is the last year flatty Ford built. And A mercury to boot. The crank alone is worth getting the engine even if the block is junk. Who knows you may have a good candidate for a rebuild. I scarf that one up.

Justin, I'm looking for a pair of buick brake drums and maybe a nailhead. Is this stuff available or is this a secret yard?......Mike

52-3 Mercs had EAC heads with the Merc name on them. The intake mounts a weird looking 4 bolt 2bbl carb. If you got all that chances are it's a true Merc.
I'm looking for those 3 pieces of rear fender trim spears.

Bring the camera the next time!

Ive looked for my LaSalle pics but they must have been trashed when I had a PC crash a few years ago.
Too damn cold to rummage thru the storage trailer to take them again!
