flatty identification

    buddy told me to come check out this flatty. it turns freely and he said take it if you want it. its stock, original, mint. blue in color. manifold is blue. i counted the studs on the head. 24. no pics, sorry. thought i'd feel y'all out first. clue me in. going in an hour or so to get it.

    There are different generations of flatties. If the distributor is coming out of the front right side at an angle it's prolly an 8BA, 8RT or one of the Mercs. If the dizzy is mounted directly on the front, between the water pumps, it's an earlier model 59A or other. Bellhousing is different as well. If it's free all the more better, snap it up!

    origionally, 59a's were blue. early ones were dark green, 8ba's bronze, late merc lite green

    The model #'s should be on the bell housing flange or on the heads for a later model (***uming the heads are stock) The water neck locations are a quick was to see if it's earlier or later 24 stud engine (8BA/8RT at the front of the heads, 59A ,'48 and earlier in the center top of the heads)
    The stock manifold should have the engine designation stamped in it somewhere as well. If it's all original you should have no trouble identifying it!
