Two questions. 1. Fleetline-style front fender trim on '47-54 Chevy pickups: is it different than p***enger car trim? 2. Does anybody repop Fleetline trim, car or truck?
I've never saw original trim on a pickup that looks like a fleetline[46-48?]....I dont think it is available in aftermarket trim either. you have any pics?
Some Chev pickups had front and rear (on panels) crome trim similar to the Fleetlines, but was not the same. It's hard to find for the trucks but I think I saw somewhere someone was repoppin this. The lowrider guys in Cal. really go for this stuff.
yeah, this is a lowrider thing. to my knowledge its not a factory option. i have a friend here in town who is a late47- early 55 chevy truck genius and i asked him the same question about 6 months ago. he said it started with the lowrider scene. and is available repoped (for about 1600. a set) although he didnt know the name of the company. but he did say that its a compilation of fleetline and a couple other gm similar bodied cars. i just say an auction for a complete set on ebay, look there it was pricey too, i thought about buying some for my trucks...but it aint worth 1600 to me..lol
The fender trim you see on trucks actually came on 47-54 chevy, gmc deluxe panels it was never available from the factory for suburbans or trucks, also if you come across an original set you will have to have the rears fitted as the rear fenders are different than panels, a friend of mine says he can get the repops if your interested i can find out how much.
Notice I said "style". I knew it wasn't an OEM deal. I'll be sending out PMs shortly. Thanks for the info. Oh, and Chevs of the 40s doesn't have it, either.
