Hey, it's an open field here. I'm not going to do the same thing I did in 1960 when I did not have the time, money, or resources to really do what I knew was going to look better because I no second car. I have no idea what is "period correct" or "old school" (whatever the f--k that is) now I don't things like this because I don't want to.
I've seen $100K cars sell at BJ and other auctions with those chrome bent up ribbed upper hoses; I'm sorry it just look like s--t to me. Geez take some time to make it look good. I know you all have watched them too. A 1970 Chevelle/Camaro 572 resto-mod (another s--t word) with a ton of chrome under the hood with one of those hoses. Oh well just my opinion and like a-holes we all have one..

Tony is 100% right, talking about what was used on hot rods in the old days is off-topic. I forgot where I was, I was temporarily suffering under the delusion that this is a traditional hot rod forum. I will delete the offending posts, and refrain from posting any more period pics in the future.

I like driving my hot rods. I dont so much like searching for hours to find a radiator hose that impresses those dudes on that hotrod forum that spend all their time nit picking every fucking detail to death and probably never completing their vehicle because of said anal retintive personalities. To each his own I guess..

  9. Damn, it's amazing how trivial we all can be over something like a radiator hose, myself included. Tony, you make a good point.

When I was building hot rods I would bend a coat hanger in the shape and length I needed then spend hours at the parts store finding the right one. I think those flex hoses are ugly and ment only as a quick fix to get you home

Only thing I have never seen a flex hose ever used on was a Big Johnson hand pumped pedal car . If it works for some one to enjoy what he has , so be it enjoy the hobby and have some fun .

  19. shame on you George, nit picking details to help a guy do a proper period correct car when all you have to do is paint your wheels red, add wide whites, and prime it black to qualify.
    LS, MII etc....whatever.

Yes I am locking this thread.. the original poster merely asked if flex hoses were period correct and acceptable back in the day. He did not ask if you liked them or thought they were ugly etc. All a person has to do is look at the photos taken back then. they do not lie. This thread turned into a train wreck....for no good reason
