Flexplate run-out

    Just replaced flexplate and starter. Have gone through three starters and none would shim correctly. Realized that the flexplate is out of round. Do not have a dial indicator but would estimate it might be as much as .060 out of round. What is acceptable? It was not an expensive flexplate that was installed. Can anyone give me a name of a quality flexplate? It is a 168 tooth on a 79 350 block. Thanks for the help.
     
  2. I'd use genuine GM parts from a dealer.
