Bought 4 new flipper wheel covers and rear ones won't fit because hubs stick out too far. I actually want flipper HUB CAPS but can't find them and I ***ume the longer rear hubs would be a problem for them also. How can I overcome the fitment problem? Even better, where can I get flipper HUB caps that would fit?
Need more information. what wheels are you running? What style of "flipper hubcaps" are you wanting to use? You could run 49-51 Merc 15' wheels with 50's Olds fiesta or starfire 3 bars or almost any of the repo 15" aftermarket caps. Better yet, skirts eliminate to need for rear hubcaps!
Since it looks like you are running the stock rear axle do you have room in the fenderwells for a wheel with enough negative offset to move the center of the cap out enough to clear the axle stub? That would be the simple way to do it if you don't need much to make it fit. Maybe even just a wider wheel that sticks out enough to make room for the hub cap to
There are a hundred hub caps called "flipper". Post a pic of the type you are talking about and we can help.
I'm wondering if the axle hubs (original) are jutting out just a bit too much to accommodate the 'flatter' flipper wheelcovers at the center of the hub-to-center point of the underside hubcap. I understand ya' want Flipper hubcaps, but other than reversing the wheel itself to accommodate them...might be an issue....I use 57' Plymouth wheelcovers on my 41 Ford Pickup...the ''cone'' type to accommodate the axle stub...just a thought....I tried a friends pair of flipper wheelcovers a few years ago, and they were too ''flat'' to fit my wheels/axle stub since I wanted to keep the original wheels.
Olds fiesta you could open the cap up under the flipper. Corvette caps on early chevy fronts needed that to help keep them on
