Did anybody stick around for Sunday? I'm curious what the car count was and how much was raised for Easter Seals.

Saw you blast past us on Sat afternoon heading back to MO. I looked and my buddy had the cruise set on about 72. You had to be north of 80 when you went by. Very cool. Saw the 37 for sale in S'field, did you sell it?

We stayed around for a couple of hours Sunday, still a decent amount of cars although I couldn't give you an exact number. Lots more cruising going on which was cool. I took about 175 pics Sunday.

No idea on the Easter Seals either, sorry.

BTW there was a '48 Caddy with a for sale sign on it parked near the main gate Saturday, anybody happen to get his info? I couldn't stop Saturday then looked for it all day Sunday with no luck.

What color was it? The sign may be visible on my high resolution originals.

  9. Hmmm...I must have needed to find a bathroom! Actually, I think, for the most part, we were running upper 70's to around 80 most of the way. The '40 likes to run about there.

We got gas around 5pm, up at one of the truck stops, drove to Mount Vernon, ate supper, and then took off and didn't stop until we got to the gas station at Hwy Z and N, just south of Wentzville. 198 miles and put a hair over 11 gallons of gas back in it. Almost 18MPG at over 75MPH...not bad.

I had a fairly serious looker, at the '37, down here in Springfield. He called me on it on Friday, then again Saturday morning, and when I pulled in out there on Saturday, he was waiting on me, with his wife, to look at it. They took a bunch of pictures, and told me he was about 2 weeks out. Who knows! I stopped by the radiator shop this afternoon, and they still don't have my radiator finished, so the '37 is still out of commission! I don't "have" to sell the '37, but I would like to, so that I can start working on my '54 F100. I have some REALLY sad pictures of it, from yesterday.

    Thanks for the pics.

    A couple of thoughts...

    1. I LOVE those woodies. I know they are pretty much limited to gold chainers due to the expense of building or buying one... But damn they are neat.

    2. There are a lot of REALLY filthy cars in these pictures. Glad these guys DRIVE em, but is there a gravel drive into the show area, or an adjoining gravel spectator lot or something? Kind of weird.

    3. Not a fan of late model interior thingies (or powerplants for that matter). It KILLS me when you take an absolutely charming and unique vintage dashboard and make it look like a new Kia or something, complete with ABS console. WTF...

    4. Also, not really a fan of some of the vintage interiors that are filthy and doo-dadded up with junk either. It seems so simple to have a clean interior with sheetmetal door panels, a clean stock dash, a tach and a cool wheel, even with some cheapo seat covers and an overall inexpensive budget, but some of the pictured cars just look like some piece of crap about to get a repo from the Walmart parking lot. Strange, but I suppose the owners are having a ball.

    5. I notice sort of an "East Coast" flavor to the show. A lot of interesting cars and different ways of doing things.

    6. And finally, I live fairly close and have never made it to the show. I NEED TO GO NEXT YEAR!!!

Thanks for taking the time to post up all those photos!!!!!!!!!

It was light blue or gray.

Although I don't see why it's an issue, yes. Most of the swap meet area is gravel, and the parking area adjacent to the entrance had gravel roads. The staff actually sprayed those roads with water at one point. Also the hotels are a bit of a drive away, we had a ten mile drive each way.

Yes it was dry and very dusty. There was dust on everything and lots of dead grass tracked into interiors of cars. .......nobody cared. This is a "rod run" more than a "car show".

Evansville has a different vibe to it. Lots of friendly people with neat toys just hanging out.

I'm ready to go back !

Best $15.00 I ever spent, just the way they do the saturday nite supper is worth the money, I was WOWed at it.

  15. Mine was just plain filthy from not being washed in a few weeks, plus many miles of road bugs.

Flip thanks for including my coupe and posting the pictures. Where were you parked? Thought for sure I'd see you. My old ratchet shifter craped out and all I had was drive. Made starting the car interesting. Car count was around 3900. I forgot the exact number.
