I like them. I actually like them alot. There is an old timer locally that has a shoebox that was built in the late 50's. He has smooth discs that have a 2 tone black and red star painted on them. I feel that they are very traditional and have been lost in the world of modern day customs.

Go for it and shoot us a vid please.

I knew a guy that had chrome naked ladies that were bolted to the spindles. I think it was kind of cool.

Front wheels are fairly easy to do but rear wheels are a real *****. Heres how i do the front. First i make the grease cap bolt on by adding 3 mounting screws that i drill & tap into the wheel hub. Then i machine up two pices of steel tubing about 1" dia x 4" long that is a light press into each other. Then i weld the smaller od tube square and centered on to the grease cap. Then i make a steel flange to fit the hubcap and weld it to the other steel tube. To attach the tube with the flange to the cap i use a good epoxy. I then cut three thin slots length wise in the tube that mounted to the hubcap. Then push the hubcap over the tube on the hub until it stops. Measure the distance bettwen the hubcap and wheel and cut booth tubes off 1/2 that distance. Now i get two hose clamps and install them over the tube mounted to the hubcap that i cut the slots in and tighten then up till the hub caps go on and off fairly hard. Oh i also put antisize on the od of the tube thats mounted to the hub so you can get them to come off easily a few years gown the road.

Without even bringing tradition into it, I'm with Muttley on this one. However, different strokes etc etc etc………

Seems like the whole point of spinners was to have them SPIN! If they float they aren't catching the light, and the eye...
Just put some baby moons on it and call it a day...no one will know if they are floating or spinning.

You guys talking **** about this obviously haven't been around Kustoms for very long. This "trick" goes WAY back. Done right, it's a neat touch. Saw a chopped Shoebox at the 2nd KKOA Sled Scene East in 1985 with a devil painted on a set of Moons and there wasn't a person there offended... Cecil Profitt was there with 3 of his shoeboxes.

It was the first time I had seen it but some of the graybeards told me that it was an "old" trick. I'm 60 and they were older than me so....just sayin'.

there is an old timer where I live that has a rad as hell shoebox that was built in the early 60's with a set of floating moon caps on the front with a traditional lil' devil holding a pitchfork sitting on a cloud painted on them.

more traditional than flat black with gloss flames...

Anybody remember seeing some old Hollywood tape on the "Roving Reporter" around Hollywood/Beverly Hills in 1949?
Two Warner Bros. reporters rode around in a brand new yellow-green '49 Ford convertible, with a portable movie camera.
The Ford was a Dealer-loaner, but had floating front caps (flat aluminum) with the Ford dealer's name, address and phone#.
I've seen this "short-short" a few times on Turner Cl***ic Movies...This is an OLD trick.

ABSOLUTELY! Very old trick, and very cool when done right. I've been carrying an idea for it around in my head now for 30 years, maybe I should finally do it to my latest build.

I actually think its a neat trick if done right on the right ride. It's not for me but I can see the attraction for others . Give it a shot and see how it comes out

What a bunch of haters. I recall seeing traditional cars on this site....with bags and compressors-Anyone talking chit about them not being "traditional". This trick is older than half the people on this thread slamming the OP? So if you could buy your bagging kits at auto-zone, would they be p***e then? If you guys really want to razz someone, maybe you should concentrate on the guys posting about their OT 1986 Cutl*** purchase or the FNG that just signed up without a car or intro, just on here to sell some ****py Coca-Cola cooler just because its old.
