The Model A is nearly complete - working on the interior, and I have a problem:

I have an under-floor brake system where the pedal comes up in a slot about 5" long. The pedal arm moves back and forth in this slot as the brakes are applied.

Is there some product that seals off the engine fumes from the interior around the brake pedal arm?

I've tried to google it, but don't know what to call it.

most early fords have a rubber seal on the pedal that seals the hole in the floor when the pedal is up. Try searching early ford catalogs on the net. it should be there.

Pedals were originally designed in a "plunger" style where the round arm was curved to the radius of the arm length. The arm passed thru a simple round hole and was easy to seal.
Arms requiring slotted holes are harder...but do-able.

Put up some pictures of the issue and it will be way easier for people to make suggestions!

The easiest thing you can do is 2 rubber strips ( or something like that) with the pedal sliding between them.

On my 50, there is a block of fiber matting that the arm slides through. The matting is contained in a sheetmetal box spot welded to the floor.

I fabbed one using two matching plates (one above the floor and one below) with a piece of old inner tube sandwiched in between the bottom plate and floor. The holes in the plates are big enough that they'll go over the pedal pad mounting bung, and the hole in the inner tube is exactly the same size as the pedal arm. Each plate and the inner tube has four holes (one in each corner) as does the floor. I used contact cement to stick the inner tube to the bottom plate, slid it on the pedal arm, mounted the pedal arm, slid the other plate on above the floor and bolted everything together using bolts in the four holes. The inner tube acts as a gasket to keep water etc. out of the cockpit both at the plate/floor as well as the plate/pedal arm.

Or you can buy an adjustable floor trim piece (#SA-6510) from Watson's Street Works for $12.00.The part is made by Sachse Rod Shop but I don't see it in their catalog, only in Watson's.
