what the hell does the sloppy work by the shop mean the panels were at fault?
I am pretty sure you make your panels to factory specs therefor any time the buyer uses them in a manner that they were not designed for( clipping or modifying frame ) their right to complain went out the window.the people that use your pieces I am sure appreciate your hard work.keep up the hard work

  3. Heres some progress. I've dived into the toe board section and had to make some pieces that don't exist. Still need to make some inner structure parts behind the kick panel and then I should be rolling much faster. 1.jpg

When I built my wagon EMS wasn't making too many parts for the '52-54 Fords but have really stepped up to the plate in the last 10 years.

I helped a friend install all the floors and rockers in his '54 and conversed him to use EMS due to the availability and time.

Are they a little more expensive than Mac's?, one word YES, does EMS fit better and look correct? ,again one word YES.

I am a believer in EMS. HRP

the point is not that are panels don't fit, but the car owners call me looking for pre made sheet metal to fix a hack job by the frame companies, after many many calls it is obvious that the frame companies sold these guys a frame that the body will not fit on. i can make the conclusion that the car owners were lied to, but by the time bad frame is found out, the frame company is safe claiming out of warranty etc.

what we have here is basically fraud, these guy have spent 10k to 20k to find out there car is a mess. the engine is so far back there is no leg room, gas and brake pedal are shove way to the left. but the amount a complicated metal fab work is m***ive, most guy are not going to get this done with out spending more money on equipment they don't know how to run or hope they find a fab shop.

it is horrible that i have to listen to guys when they find out there car is a mess and they got ripped off for 10-20k. the average guy can not take a 20k hit.

the other thing i hear is i get a call the was sold cheap to someone else, and the phone call topic starts all over, at least the 2nd guy paid only 5-7k for the whole car, who took the loss?? will that car guy ever stay in the hobby?

i want repeat this; I HAVE HAD NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT HIEDTS OR FATMAN PRODUCTS

P.S. in building my car collection i got ripped off 3 times, i know how it feels

A number of years ago I sold a nice 63 Ford short bed unibody to EMS. While there got a tour of the shop and an explanation of developing the dies for stamping the parts. Believe it or not it's quite an involved process to get an exact or real close fit. Hey Alex, hope things are going well.

  8. Here's some progress finally.... I had to make all of those pieces, whew...

    Next up:

and man oh man, there was a bit of filler in those rockers.... yikes!
    9.jpg

I still need to do something about this section though. this is behind the kick panel below the A pillar. The section circled in red is boogered up on both driver and p***enger side. There is nothing left to tell what it was tied into. I'm ***uming it was the inner rocker but if anyone has some good pics or direction on this I would appreciate it

And lastly, here is my new outer rocker. I can't ever recall seeing this reveal in a 2 door car though. Not saying it wasn't there, mine didn't have it, but it was probably under that 1/2" of mud.

That's about how my F100 looked when I got it. Alot of grey hairs later it's done. Awesome job and congrats on saving it.

  11. Ha ha, I think my job gives me more grey hairs than the car, just wish I could find more time for it, I'm starting to itch to drive her again.

  12. I hope you guys can help me, maybe EMS guy can chime in on this. I know I'm a rookie but I feel like I'm missing something with these measurements. The reveal on the rocker should go the entire length of the door opening correct?

I can't remember the EMS guy's name, but I'd give them a call and find out who it is and have him look at the pics. I understand your questioning. Almost seems like it's a rocker for the front door on a 4dr. Maybe they got some panels mis labeled.
Maybe one way to tell is if they make a rear quarter panel for that car, look to see how far it extends beyond (if front of) the B pillar.

  14. Texas57, I have the rear quarters too. that piece looks correct, although it may need to be trimmed to fit where it meets the rocker.
    1.jpg 2.jpg
But even still, the quarter doesn't want to slip over the rocker very easily. You're probably right, need to reach out to EMS.

I am going to have the same problem. We will just have to make our own patch panels to fill in that gap. That area on my car was rusted so I cut back to good metal.

  16. well dang... I guess take comfort you're not alone... I reached out to EMS and they said they would look into it and get back to me. Kind of a bummer because the rest of the piece is really nice.

Yeah I also found out that the ****on of the rockers panel doesn’t have the same rounded ****om as the car. The area that welds to the bottom of the inner rocker. I had to bend it myself. With my fancy sheet metal brake hahaha Ps. I also had a 1” flatbar on the clamps. You can’t see it but it helped me bend the rocker evenly A1AAD072-2FF7-4175-A2F6-4D501DDAA28F.jpeg

  22. P***ing this along for anyone it may help. I talked to EMS and they said to install the quarter first, then the rocker will overlap it. There is in fact a gap between the rocker and the lower quarter and this is correct. The caveat to this is Ford would lead in the gap there to make it all one section.

  23. You 2 door guys are lucky.. i have to make my own lower front quarter panel piece. at least the rear lower quarters are the same.

  24. more progress this weekend, quarters are cut out. Looks like I will need inner rear quarters now. I was hoping to avoid that but am not surprised. The B pillar posts aren't terrible but need a little help to make them good and strong again. The outer edge of the wheelwell is toast too. not sure quite how I'm going to tackle that yet though.
    2.jpg 3.jpg
Here is the tailpan where it meets the quarter (already cut out) a fair amount of filler on both sides, car probably got smacked from behind at some point. Debating whether or not I need this piece now too. 1.jpg

No I should be questioning why I'm such a candy ***! My Victoria is about the same. Pretty good for the most part but same as yours in the same places (the bottom 2 inches). Only fear and common sense are holding me back - the trick is you are forging ahead.
