The wife and I will be in Jacksonville, Florida on Feb. Sat. 19 and Sun. 20. any thing going on?? Thanks.
Sorry, I don't know about JAX at all. But I can tell you (from just the NSRA Fellow Pages) there are more hot rodders there than you can shake a stick at, more than anywhere else in the state. Hopefully someone will chime in and get you briefed. Gary
http://flacarshows.com/SHne.htm Looks like there is a swap meet in Paltaka, which is a bit south of St. Augustine. There might be a cruise-in on the north side of Jax at the River City Marketplace. I live 5 minutes from there and cant iron down when that thing is though. Seems like random Saturday evenings. I was told the Suicide Machines CC is going to have their club meets on the 3rd saturday of the month near Beach Blvd and I95. They probably wouldnt mind you showing up, hope they dont mind my post.
Got one for 'ya Paintcan... And a good chance your wife will enjoy it as well. Follow the signs to JAX beaches. Once you make it to the beach, you will be on Hwy. 1 [or A1A]. Turn south and just keep on driving. Once you get out of Jacksonville, i's a very pleasant ~30 mile drive to St. Augustine... 30 years ago when I first discovered this strech of road, it was absolutely deserted. Not a single house, gas station,,, nothing. And you could park on the shoulder of the road and hike over to miles and miles of deserted beaches. Unfortunately, the area has seen a good share of development, but there are still a few places you can find where you will be the only person on the whole beach. About 20 miles into the trip, you will finally see the gas station on the right side of the road. Park in the lot beside it and go across to the beach there. It's a raelly nice one. St. Augustine is difficult to describe, but you will know your there when you see the 300 year old spanish fort. It's the oldest city in N. America. Great place to explore. Park at the visitors and convention center, and buy a day p*** on the tourist trains. The drivers will hit all the highlights and historical sites. After you ride on the train, you can then go explore on foot. This can easily eat up a whole day, but if you still have time, continue south on Hwy. 1 another 14 miles till you get to Ft. Matanzas. It's run by the national parks service, and the boat ride to the 300 year old spanish fort is free. What's more, you can climb all over it. Even up on the roof if you so desire. After that, the beach right across from Matanzas is amazing and usually deserted. It's all white sand and almost 200 yards from the road to the water. Google searches on any of the above could give you mountains of info. Enjoy
There is a sign out at the marketplace I stated earlier saying there will be a show this Sat from 5-9. Its not huge and breaks up well before that normally. That A1A drive is really good too.
