Thought I'd throw a thread up. I went last year and had a blast.
Although it was really lacking traditional Rods and Customs, YOU
could change that.Bring the kids, they'll have as much or more fun
than you do. Cars,Boats,Planes all in a Disney-like Art Deco facility.
Seems like they're poo-pooing coolers and alcohol this year but
I'm thinking just because of the vendors and all the mini-bars they
had set up. On site camping for paticipants. Whole lotta stuff
going on including a parking lot autocross that basically required
seat belts and a helmet.Ever seen a vintage Issetta on two wheels?.
Anyway check out the links for video from last year(the 1st one)
    and entry information.
I'm not affiliated with the show at all,but it is next door to my RV
park, hence hard for me to miss.

Jeff, thanks for the info, will try and rally the troups and get a group to roll over from O-town. Who doesn't like all this vintage **** anyways???
May be a bit on the pricey side, but I feel you get alllot for the money. Hell, anything that flies has got to cost a ****-load more than any duece project ever will!

We have a small group of Tampa Knights going... a fun family day. The coordinator listed on the web site is very helpful with groups. I plan to be there both days, Sat with the familes / kids and Sunday to dust off my autocross skills. Hope for good weather. The facility there is first cl***... great museum and restoration projects. And as many of you might know, the Lakeland, Haines City and Lake Wales area is chock full of aviation fans, and one of the area's largest events is the Fly in at Lakeland (similar to the one in Oshkosh, WI). So at this new show you can get you fill of rivets and bomber seats and pinup art and old cars and wacky engines, too, while you take in the car show / boat / air show or wiggle around the pylons. Later, Gary

    Well,
It turned out to be a beautiful day at Roar and Soar. Great day for cars, boats, RC boats, RC planes, real planes, rent-a-rides in bi-planes, Warbirds, the outstanding museum there, sky divers, ultra-lights, vintage drag boats, vintage hydros, vintage outboards, rods, customs, sports cars, some choppers and a group of Chevy SSRs that somehow snuck in.

Here are a few pix... sorry about the quality my camera's meter was stuck or something. I tried to correct them best I could. The Tampa Knights ended up with only 4 cars and I saw another HAMBer there, John G. Going back today to try my hand a the solo course (a slow demo, fer sure) in my 37 Fordor. Later, Gary

PS - saw a vintage boat with a black alligator skinned dash. I think I'm going to steal that one for the 27x.

Dang... one more I forgot. I also forgot to mention the marine Hemi in that wonderful old Chris Craft? Or the Baja Datsun that was driven by Peter Brock and Lee Midgley? I crewed with Lee's son, Chuck, on an IMSA racer back in the mid-70s. I didn't even know this car existed, or that Datsun was crazy enough to desert race them. Gary

Humm... not a lot of interest I see.... well, here are the rest of the good shots from today at Roar and Soar, ifn anyone wants a peek. I did 4 runs on the autocross - the only rod of any kind - and held up my end for 70+ year old cars. The crowd loved it despite me being 10 seconds off fast time. I did manage to beat a few new Mercedes sedans driven by first timers, though. Never knew that fuel spills from my cap on hard lefts until today! Sorry no pix of me in action. Some interesting planes and nose art and the wacky AeroCar had it's wings on today. It does have a nifty looking interior. Later, Gary

Thought it was a good show overall. the girlfriend really liked it. She Had never been there before. AND...we both had a blast getting a ride in the bi-plane. Thanks Jeff!! Your are my hero.:D:p
Kinda pissed they would not let me and the Willy's Jeepster in the show, on Sunday. there was MORE than enough space available. Had fun none the less.

Taken at the Roar and Soar event, Fantasy of Flight, Nov 9th, 2008. No, I wasn't the fastest car but a crowd pleaser none the less a****st all the old Jags and Z cars. I made 4 runs total. I think this video was taken on my first run... as I made more tire noise later on as I got braver. Gary

Gary, We(Jeff, Shawn and I) saw one of those amazing runs. Pretty impressive for a big tub! :D Wanted to say hello, but you probably split towards the food or bathrooms.
For those of you that missed the event, I would still highly suggest making a pilgrimage to this place anytime. Great disply of vintage aircraft, and fun for the entire family. Admission is up there, but overhead must be off the hook. WWI and WWII inside diagrama's almost worth it alone. Art Deco resteraunt serves decent food. :p
