Just joined a few days ago Been lurking long enuff to like what I see and hope to learn from thius pool of knowledge. I've been a hot rod fan for yaers and really love then fact that the traditional movement is moving out into the light so I can learn more.I just hope it stays like lakes racing and Bonneville, cause corporate money ruins everything. I live in Newton Ia and still working for Maytag in R&D. As we say in the shop "the engineers design it but we techs make it work" before Maytag I put food on the table by repairing agricultural and construction stuff for 20 years. I'm collecting parts for a modified lakes styled car. It's starting with a 28-29 cowl and 37 wide five axles. Next I need a frame and will go from there. It started out with a Jag motor but I leaning towards a built B or C series four banger. I also am learning to do metal forming and will be in Sedalia July 16th and17th at a Metal Meet gathering. Host Keith Daleen was talking about a cruise nite there so might check that out while in town. If anybody here will be there let me know what you drive and maybe we can meet. It's always nice to put a face with the typed words. PS When I read the thread on axle drilling and the man said "put on some Jr Brown..." I knew Dis was the place. Thanks.
Welcome to the HAMB. Sit back and enjoy, ther is a ton of good knowledge here. I'm no where close to Iowa, but visit often enough, my mother lives there. You gotta go see momma every once in a while.
I wich you luck with the whole Maytag thing going on right now. I have a good friend that is the librarian at the school on the NE side of town (Newton). I does not sound good. See ya later. Craig (Engineer) Riverside, IA
Hey,Hawkeye, welcome to the HAMB. I really like that part of Iowa. Spent a lot of years at Grinnell and U of I (slow learner) and two of my kids, my wife, brother, nephew and 13 other family memers, graduated from Grinnell as well. And you can't beat a Maytag-our first Maytag washer lasted 22 years-the second is working on 8 so far. Post some pictures of your rides. Ever run across anything about a Spalding? Made in Grinnell for a few years in the early 20th centry by buggy guys. As far as I know, only a single *******ized one exists today.
