Hi all, I am new to the H.A.M.B but I have been reading alot of threads and if nothing else I have overcome my fear of cutting a perfectly good 1957 chevy truck frame to install a camaro ifs. I have a how-to video and am following it step by step and so far its been pretty simple. I have some pics here...http://hotrodders.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=24953 I enjoy reading other info, horror stories, whatever about installing an IFS and always appreciate input from more experienced H.A.M.B.ers.
i feel you. join the club! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148978 ...putting one in my '58 F100 as we speak.
the 57 chevy truck is one of the easier clip jobs to do. one word of caution pay attention to the position of the wheel location in the fender. keeping the wheelbase strickly stock( 116" i think)may not locate the wheel correctly in the fender. best to set the ride height , i use a length of all thread in place of the shock and pull the suspenion down, install the tire and wheel and fender than stand back and eyeball it. stock wheelbase usually makes the wheel set to far back in the fender.
If its done right it makes for one sweet ride. I put a camaro clip in a buddies F-1. Spent lots of time figuring and measuring and luckily it all worked out for the best. It rides and drives better than my 38 chevy with Must II.
