Hey HAMBers, what's up? I'd like to start by thanking you for the vast wealth of knowledge posted in this forum. Over the last year or so, I've answered many of my own questions searching through your posts. I decided it was time to register and start contributing. I've also got a few questions to ask, but figured those could wait 'til I get a warm HAMBer welcome. I expect around 300 or so replies like Jesse James got... I'm working on my first hot rod, trying to do it right the first time. It's a 1930 Ford pickup. The original chassis was pretty far gone, and I wanted something safe and reliable, so I kept the body and gave the rest to a friend that builds "parade duty" cars. I bought a new stage 3 chassis from Cornhusker Rod and Customs. Gary Mussman is an awesome guy and helped out a lot! I've had my share of cool cars and motorcycles, but never anything I built myself. My brother rides an NHRA Pro Stock Drag Bike for MATCO Tools, so I've been around and seen some pretty awesome stuff. Always storing ideas away. I worked avionics on F-16 fighter/F-117 stealth jets for 8 years in the Air Force, and learned a WHOLE LOT there. Last but not least, I was on vacation this summer and made it a point to drive to So-Cal Speed Shop in Pomona to meet Jimmy Shine - just thought I'd mention he's really down to Earth and about the nicest guy ever. He let me crawl all over his "Bare Neked" truck and even let me help for a few minutes with something he was working on. Awesome! In fact, ALL the people who worked there were awesome. I was impressed with Jesse James' replies on this forum because he seems to be the same way - just a normal guy doin' what he enjoys doing! And that's why I'm here too! Later!
Welcome from western OH. I too went to SoCal speed Shop recently, but Jimmy wasn't there. The old guy that runs the sales room, (I can't remember his name) went out of his way to show me around. He musta spent an hour with me showing me everything he could dig up. Way cool. I did run into Jimmy at the GNRS and he was beyond approachable. Do yourself a favor and change that avatar. Welcome from CA. I too noticed the avitar...looked like bait as did the****le of your post, but your intro was good and then I realized the car is from Mad Max (right?). Not really a fit for this board, but I thought that car was bad**** when the movie came out. Bryan

Vance and 51chevysled: Thanks for the tip on the avatar; good point - I guess that's why I'm a FNG? It was, in fact, the Mad Max Interceptor. I got to sit in the actual movie car at the Cars of the Stars museum in Keswick, England! (Hung around until closing and slipped the kid a twenty to turn his back for a few minutes).
There is/was a guy on here from Valpo but I haven't heard from him in a while. Some of my closest friends are all NW Indiana guys and all on the board. About the Alliance... If you like this place and want to support it, then yes. That was my feeling... plus there are some killer deals if you are in the market to purchace hot rod related stuff!
