Well, I've been lurking long enough, I think I see how things work here and don't feel I'll be toooo much of an embarr***ment, so let me introduce myself. I'm Jerry and have been working on old cars all my life. Helped rebuild my first engine with my brother when I was 11 yrs old, ****oned it all up while he was at work and was ready to drop it in that night. Was a 289 Studebaker that he was running in his Lark. And yes, it did run great even though I helped...LOL. I guess he figured after handing wrenches and cleaning parts for him and the old man, it was time to step up. I'm retired military (21 1/2 yrs, USAF) and have been short of cash forever so I've had to do all my own work on my cars, or barter and trade to get it done. I have never owned a finished car in my life, although I have owned a few that were close. I had a '17 Stude Touring car cut into a roadster p/u, it was on the road for a yr with no interior before I sold it. I had a '51 Ford Club Coupe that needed only paint to finish, gave it to my mom and painted it for her the next week. Had '52 Ford ragtop, custom built in the early 60's, had it done but the engine setting on the ground next to it when a guy offered me wayyyyy too much for it. Anyhow, you get the idea. I just got rid of a '53 Ford 2 dr mainline, running 6 cyl, AT, no floors, interior, needed bodywork and paint. My new pride and joy is a 47-48 Plymouth coupe. Body is real straight and solid, all gl*** there and good, a lot of surface rust, very little serious rust, good floors, most chrome there but off, engine locked but will be replaced anyhow, so that doesn't matter. Have already gotten some of my questions answered while lurking, and have seen some guys looking for parts that I have on hand, so maybe I can help some of you out. Looking forward to the opportunity.
